Self Help Workshops

It is highly recommended that all Jin Shin Jyutsu students attend at least one Self Help workshop. During this class, the fundamental principles of physio-philosophy will be covered as well as how to apply the Art to yourself, family, and friends. Please refer to the Contact a Practitioner page for a listing of certified self-help instructors in your region.
Please note: All students who wish to present Self Help Jin Shin Jyutsu workshops are required to have completed three 5 day Basic Seminars and at least one Living The Art class (LTA).

Jin Shin Jyutsu Classes
presented by Jin Shin Jyutsu Inc. faculty

5 Day Basic Seminar

The 5-Day Basic Seminar is for those who want to study and practice Jin Shin Jyutsu and to apply the Art on themselves and others.  Instructors teach from two textbooks authored by Mary Burmeister, which are based on the teachings of Jiro Murai. Classes also contain ample periods of hands-on application.
Each seminar consists of two parts:

Part 1  - the foundation; introduces the dynamic qualities of the 26 Safety Energy Locks, the Trinity Flows, the concepts of Depths within the body, and the physio-philosophy of Jin Shin Jyutsu.

Part 2 - (prerequisite: part 1) introduces the 12 organ flows, listening to pulses, the Special Body Flows and how these contribute to harmonising body, mind and spirit.

Please note: As part of the Instructor Training Program, Jin Shin Jyutsu Instructors may periodically have qualified JSJ Instructor Trainee's present short teachings from the 5 Day Class material. The primary instructor will oversee the presentation.

Recognition of Class Attendance

Following completion of one 5-day Jin Shin Jyutsu seminar you will be recognised as a ‘student practitioner’ and receive a certificate for 35 hours of class time. You may practice from a professional point of view but should advise clients of this status.

Students who complete three 5-day Jin Shin Jyutsu seminars are certified as a Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner’. A second certificate is then issued by Jin Shin Jyutsu Inc. (Scottsdale Arizona, USA) recognising 105 hours of class time.

5 Day Kato Text Seminar

This is a special 5 day seminar based on Haruki Kato's two textbooks, presented by his son Sadaki Kato.
Haruki Kato was a direct student of Jiro Murai and Sadaki Kato is now a faculty member of the Mary Burmeister Institute.  Classes cover the development of the Art in Japan, reconstructing some of Master Murai's lectures, hands on practice, and demonstrations.

Please note: A number of 5-Day class pre-requisites apply for this class.

Special Topic

The Special Topic Classes (STC) give the opportunity to look at a specific Jin Shin Jyutsu subject (from a variety of topics) in a more detailed and profound way. It offers a chance to study and amplify relationships among the many aspects of Jin Shin Jyutsu, with more interaction between the students and the instructor in smaller groups. Special Topic Classes are a flexible format which can vary in size, number of days and subject matter, for example: Pulses, Body Reading, The Depths, The Methods of Correction, Astrology, and Organ Flows.

Please note: pre-requisite (unless otherwise stated) is attendance of at least one 5-Day Basic Seminar.

Living The Art

Mary Burmeister said that in "the awareness of the moment (the breath), one's present state of being will become an Art of LIVING." The purpose of this seminar is to bring us into this awareness through a detailed exploration of Mary's three Self-Help Books and through practicing the Art of Jin Shin Jyutsu.

Living The Art differs from the Self-Help Class in that the meanings of Mary's words and numbers in the books are presented at a deeper level, creating a bridge of information with Texts 1 and 2 from the 5-Day Basic Seminar. With this background, students are better prepared to study, practice and perhaps teach Self-Help. Time is allotted for discussion and refinement of communication skills on selected Jin Shin Jyutsu Self-Help topics.

This class can deepen one's understanding and daily practice of the material. A third objective is to improve our ability to clearly, simply, and safely share the physio-philosophy and the self-help practice.

All Jin Shin Jyutsu students are encouraged to attend this class. Those wishing to be listed as an authorized Self-Help Instructor on our Practitioner Locator are required to attend this class at least once.

Upon completion of your third 5-Day Basic Seminar and your Living the Art Seminar, you will receive your Living the Art certificate of attendance.
